Part 1, the 39th Reg't enters Cherbourg suburbs; the 314th Reg't battles house to house. Gen. J.L. Collins accepts the German surrender from Gen. von Schleiben and Adm. Hennecke. Pillboxes and roadblocks are shelled. Germans are captured and searched. Shows general views of the city and harbor; Ger. dead and their possessions; freed Russian POW's. Collins presides as the city is returned to the French people. Part 2, shows V-2 rockets flying and being shot down. Part 3 (Reel 2) shows many scenes of Chinese troops training at Yunnan. Part 4 shows damage to Myitkyina (Bur.) airstrip after Japanese bombing. Reinforcements land. Mules carrying supplies are rescued from an abyss. Marauders leave the jungle and rest at a hospital in Ledo, Ind. Part 5, Gen. Marshall visits the 5th Army area in Italy (June 18): confers with Gen. Clark, decorates men, and inspects 36th Div. emplacements. 540th Engrs. clear and repair Civitavecchia Harbor. Part 6 (Reel 3), French troops invade Elba. Part 7, Japanese equipment is tested: 75-mm mountain gun, 37-mm antitank gun, and a magnetic antitank mine. Part 8, the 106th Reg't travels from Hawaii and invades Saipan in the Marianas without opposition (June 15). Tanks and infantry capture an airfield.

Karl-Wilhelm von Schlieben (b. Oct. 30, 1894, Eisenach, Germany-d. June 18, 1964), Lieutenant General in the German Army, joined the Prussian Army in 1914 and was wounded twice during the First World War. He served during World War II as commander of several Panzer and Infantry Divisions.
